The Brazil manager, Luiz Felipe Scolari, has announced his squad for the forthcoming Confederations Cup, and the preceding friendly matches against England and France.
Striker Leandro Damiao has been recalled to the national set up as Scolari looks eager to try out different options in the forward line. Another one of these options will be Atletico Mineiro’s young attacker Bernard, who gets the nod over his team mate Ronaldinho, who misses out. Bernard will be in demand over the coming months as clubs in Europe will look to prise him away from Brazil as their summer transfer window opens.
Botafogo’s Jefferson is in line to make more appearances in the Brazil goal, as he looks to further his claim to be Brazil’s number 1 come the World Cup.
The Confederations Cup begins on June the 15th, and will be a chance for Brazil to try out it’s new stadiums and get an idea of what hosting tournament football is like, before hosting the World Cup next year.
In the build up to this they will play England at the Maracana on the 2nd June, and then host France at the Gremio Arena on the 9th.
