The games are coming thick and fast, as Brazilian teams trek around the country playing two games per week in order to fit all their fixtures in around the forthcoming Confederations Cup.

Botafogo secured their first win of the season with a victory against Neymar-less  Santos, which was to be Muricy Ramalho’s last game in charge of the Paulista club.

Elsewhere, Sao Paulo battered Vasco da Gama 5-1 with Luis Fabiano netting two goals, and Maxi Biancucchi went to the top of the scoring charts as his two goals in Vitoria’s win away to Nautico took his season tally to three.

Fred of Internacional continued his good form as his team beat Cricklwooood (the English translation of Criciuma with added Dre) by two goals to nil, and Ponte Preta were able to upset the odds as they beat Flamengo in Juiz de Fora .

Meanwhile over in Goiania, Goias earned a respectable draw at home to Corinthians.

Player to watch…

For this weeks player to watch we go to Serie B, as Leandro was once again impressive in a dominant Palmeiras side, as they beat ASA 3-0 away from home.

The striker was moved into a position just behind his fellow attacker Kleber, and the positional change looked to suit the young prospect on loan from Gremio, as he was able to assist all three of his team’s goals.
